  1. Problem: I have a suitcase with two broken wheels. I can get the wheel mounts off, but the wheels itself are riveted in place. Any good ideas how to get those off easily? #repair

      It looks like I could replace them with kid size inline skate wheels. But I need to get them off first. I was thinking about using a 10mm drill bit to take of the rim of the rivet on the inside. Then I should be able to take out the rest of the pin/rivet holding the wheel.

        But that's destructive, meaning I have to find something else to hold the new wheel then. Maybe I could use a simple machine screw with a fairly flat head, and a locknut on the outside 🤔

            The old wheels needed a bit of convincing, but that was much much easier than expected. They did however have some special bearings the new wheels didn't have. I faked it with some washers, which seems to work, but who knows for how long 🤔
