@breakthesystem If you have Flexpreis Ticket for 2nd class, you can sit in 1st, and pay the difference right on the train -> community.bahn.de/questions/1265267-1-klasse-upgrade It does get a little more complicated if you have a BahnCard, not sure how all of that then works exactly. Maybe @DB_Bahn can help shed some light.
